Master of Business Administration Program Learning Outcomes (ACBSP Accredited)

The Master of Business Administration has the following Program Learning Outcomes:

  1. Use analytical skills, synthesizing information from appropriate disciplines and applying business analysis, data management and diagnostic problem-solving skills to support business management decision-making.
  2. Exhibit leadership and team membership skills needed for coordinating and participating in business management activities.
  3. Exhibit effective verbal and non-verbal communication skills at a graduate level.
  4. Evaluate and integrate business ethics and corporate social responsibility in the context of a diverse, global/multi-cultural business environment.

1. Deadlines

  • Application deadlines for the MBA program are consistent with those of the WNMU Office of Admissions.
  • Ideally all admissions materials should be received by the Office of Admissions at least one month before the first day of classes. This will expedite decisions regarding prerequisites, GMAT requirement, transfer credits, and financial aid.
  • Applications may be submitted up to three business days prior to the beginning of classes. These applicants may be admitted on a “conditional” basis and may begin taking classes. However, financial aid benefits cannot be finalized until all required admissions materials are submitted and reviewed.

International students:

  • Proof of adequate financial support (not required for fully online students)

  • Proof of an adequate health insurance policy that includes emergency evacuation or repatriation to home country (not required for fully online students)

Applicants seeking NEW Admission to WNMU:

A new student wishing to be admitted to a WNMU graduate program must complete a university application and any other necessary requirement(s) as directed by the Graduate Admissions and Outreach Programs Office.

Admissions

Requirements

1.  The Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) is required for all MBA students whose GPA for the last 64/36 credit hours of undergraduate/graduate work is less than 3.2.

2.  MBA applicants who are required to take the GMAT must submit scores less than six years old to the WNMU Admissions Office.

3.  A completed packet, including application, transcripts, and test scores (if required), will be forwarded to the MBA director who, in conjunction with School of Business faculty, will review the application packet to determine acceptance to the MBA program.

4.  Acceptance to the program is generally based on the following formula:  Undergraduate GPA x 200 + GMAT = 950 or higher. This requirement is more clearly defined in the WNMU catalog.

5.  Applicants who do not meet the above criteria may petition the School of Business & Economics  to be admitted with special consideration:

  • The petition must include a written statement explaining why the applicant believes she or he will be able to successfully complete the MBA program.
  • Applicants who do not meet the 950 qualifying score must arrange for an interview with the MBA Graduate Admission Committee.
  • No more than 20% of candidates selected will be admitted with a qualifying score lower than 950.

Tuition and Fees

International Students

The general policies of the University, as outlined in the WNMU catalog, apply to international as well as US students. However, some special policies mandated by federal law apply to international students:

  • English proficiency: WNMU requires a TOEFL score of 550 or higher (Test of English as a Foreign Language).
  • On-campus international students are defined as individuasl attending WNMU while present in the US on a non-immigrant visa. Legally admitted immigrants and refugees are not considered foreign students. All on-campus international students will hold either an F-1 or M-1 non-immigrant visa.

Program Requirements

GMAT

  • MBA applicants whose GPA for the last 64/36 credit hours of undergraduate/graduate work is 3.2 or better are not required to take the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT).
  • The GMAT is designed to measure verbal, quantitative and writing skills of applicants for graduate study in business. Test takers should note that the GMAT is entirely in English and that all instructions are provided in English.
  • The GMAT website also provides testing locations and the format of the GMAT exam.
  • The MBA has two modalities; Completely Online or Completely in Person. Please indicate what track you will pursue.

MBA Rotation

The MBA program accepts students with or without prior business administration course work. Two options are available to students entering the MBA program.

Option 1. For students with an undergraduate degree that includes the following courses or equivalents (as determined by the MBA Director):

  • BSAD 230 Principles of Financial Accounting
  • BSAD 231 Principles of Managerial Accounting
  • BSAD 340 Principles of Marketing
  • BSAD 350 Principles of Management
  • BSAD 370 Principles of Finance
  • ECON 201 Principles of Macroeconomics

Option 2. Students with an undergraduate degree in a non-business field should contact the School of Business at mba@wnmu.edu regarding prerequisites. 

Advisor will meet with students on an individual basis to determine prerequisite requirements.

Prerequisite requirements must be completed prior to registering for the graduate course or during the first semester of classes. Self-pace online options are available. Through Peregrine Academic Services we offer Course Leveling modules supporting graduate readiness, improving outcomes, and meeting accreditation standards with self-paced, foundational modules designed to reduce barriers and promote student success. The MBA Director will provide candidates with more information.

Policies and Procedures

1.  Specialization: The MBA program offers five tracks:

  • General MBA
  • MBA with International Business concentration
  • MBA with Management Information Systems concentration
  • MBA with Healthcare Administration concentration
  • MBA with Instructional Technology and Design concentration

2.  Thesis: The MBA program does not require a thesis.

3.  Grade Point Average: No more than three (3) credit hours with a grade of C can count toward the MBA degree. Three grades of C or lower will result in dismissal from the program.

4.  Credit hours: The MBA consists of 36 credit hours of course work, eleven required courses and one elective.

5.  Transfer credits: Students may apply to have up to nine (9) credit hours considered for transfer from other graduate programs. The transferred credits must substitute for required courses or one may be used as an elective.

6.  Prior course work: The MBA program accepts students with or without prior business administration course work.  See options listed in Prerequisites above.

The School of Business is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). The Master of Business Administration is an Accredited program by the ACBSP.  WNMU is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
